Death and Taxes Lifes Two Certainties

Most are familiar with this old expression and the older you get the more it rings true.

Taxes in a city are needed to provide necessities such as water, sewer, roads, public safety such as police and fire protection. 

Beyond these basics if a community is affluent enough taxes may also be used for things such as parks and public sports facilities etc.

Taxes in the City of Nanaimo are being levied and used for what can be argued does not serve the resident taxpayers of the community but rather the corporation itself. Current taxpayers do not benefit from ever increasing development and growth which serves to only expand the income base of the corporation of the city of Nanaimo.

This blog will attempt to inform city taxpayers how the Corporation of the City of Nanaimo keeps collecting more and more money for the purpose of expanding itself rather than serving existing taxpayers.

During the terms of city council under the leadership of Mr. Krog Nanaimo taxes have been increasing at an alarming rate with little to no benefit to longtime taxpayers.

City taxes have never been higher and public safety has never been of greater concern than under the current administration and there seems no real accountability other than an election every few years.
